North Sailing Norway offers world-class ski and sail expeditions in the Lyngen Alps and surrounding islands on board one of our three traditional two-mast sailing ships. Our experienced ski guides will take you to untouched destinations of the arctic mountain range in Northern Norway.
Both Schooner Opal and Schooner Donna Wood comfortably accommodates up to twelve guests on our ski and sail expeditions. After a long day skiing you will be able to enjoy our on-board sauna and hot-tub. We provide high quality meals, prepared by our on-board chef using local ingredients. Opal is a one of a kind, environmentally friendly hybrid-electric Schooner. For shorter trips and smaller groups, the beautiful Hildur will be used. It is also possible to book more than one ship.
Perfect ski conditions
Northern Norway is well known for persistent snow conditions and a long ski season. The amazing Lyngen Alps are world renowned for hosting some of the best ski- to sea tour terrains in the World. The Lyngen mountain range is a 90-kilometre-long, and 20-kilometre-wide peninsula bordering Ullsfjord to the West and the Lyngenfjord to the East. The mountains vary in height and terrain, some reaching well over 1700m, offering a great variety of ski touring for all experience levels.
East of the peninsula you have the mountains of Kåfjord with equally good skiing conditions, and with a breath-taking view towards the Lyngen Alps. The outer islands further north; Kågen, Arnøya and Uløya, are also within close reach with the sailboat and provide exciting traverses.
With our Schooners, we can sail to the best locations depending on the snow- and weather conditions. Areas that are not reachable without a boat.
Our base harbour is in the heart of the Lyngen Alps, in the small town of Lyngseidet.
